Question : NEW CENTRES FOR THE TREATMENT OF CANCER PATIENTS



(a) whether the Union Government propose to set up some new centres for the treatment of cancer patients in various States keeping in view of the increasing number of cancer patients;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and

(c) if not, the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a)to(c):`Health` being a State subject, it is for the State Government to provide health care facilities for such ailments. However, this Ministry has recognised 17 Regional Cancer Centres in the country. These Centres are providing tertiary level treatment and conducting research activities in the field of cancer. The list of Regional Cancer Centres is given at Annexure-I.
