Question : INTERNET FACILITY IN AP

(a) the names of cities provided with internet facilities in Andhra Pradesh during the year 2000-01 and also proposed to be provided up to 2002-2003, district-wise; and

(b) the steps taken or proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had extended Internet facility to all cities including all District Headquarters in Andhra Pradesh by March, 2000 by setting up Internet nodes in 22 cities detailed in Annexure-I. So the provisioning in 2002-2003 does not arise. In addition Internet nodes have been opened by other Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in a number of cities in Andhra Pradesh. A list of these cities is enclosed in Annexure II.
