(a) the number of proposals relating to introduction of new
rail services lying pending with the Government;
(b) whether the Government of Rajasthan has also submitted
some proposals in this regard;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the norms laid down for introduction of new rail service
and the ground on which the proposals received from the
Government of Rajasthan have not been approved?

(a): 19 pairs of the proposed trains are yet to be
introduced during 2004-2005.
(b)& (c): Government of Rajasthan has requested for Broad
Gauge Jaipur-Udaipur Lake City Express after conversion of
Chittaurgarh-Udaipur section into Broad Gauge.
(d) New trains are introduced on the basis of traffic
pattern, operational feasibility and availability of
resources. Introduction of Broad Gauge Jaipur- Udaipur Lake
City Express can be examined only after the Gauge conversion
work is completed.
