(a) whether it is fact that the border dispute between Assam and Nagaland is pending in the court;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time by which the border dispute is likely to be resolved?

(a) to (c): There exist some border dispute between the States of Assam and Nagaland. The Government of Assam filed Original Suit No. 2/88 in the Supreme Court of India for demarcation of boundaries between the States of Assam and Nagaland. The Supreme Court vide its judgment and order dated 25.9.2006 has appointed a Local Commission for identification of boundaries between the States of Assam and Nagaland. The Local Commission is continuing its hearings. While hearing an application filed by Government of Nagaland in original Suit No. 2/88, the Supreme Court vide its order dated 20.8.2010, interalia, directed that apart from continuation of the Local Commission, possibility to resolve the issue through mediation may also be explored and for this purpose appointed two Co-mediators. In view of the above, no time frame can be indicated in this regard.
