Question : WLL CONNECTIONS



(a) the details of Wireless on Local Loop (WLL) connections in the country, State-wise;

(b) whether most of the telephones using WLL technique particularly in backward, remote and rural areas are not functional and if so, the details of such connections and the reasons therefor; and

(c) the corrective action taken/proposed to be taken to improve the WLL telephone services in the affected regions?

(a) to (c) A Statement is laid on the Table of the House.

STATEMENT TO BE LAID ON THE TABLE OF THE LOK SABHA IN RESPECT OF PARTS (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 244 FOR 10th DECEMBER, 2014 REGARDING “WLL CONNECTIONS”.

(a) The details of Wireless in Local Loop (WLL) connections in the country, Licence Service Area (LSA) wise are as at Annexure-I.

(b) As reported by various Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), the Wireless in Local Loop (WLL) connections are working satisfactorily in general. However, sometimes in view of poor domestic power supply in certain areas, including backward, remote and rural areas, the in-built battery of the subscriber end terminal (Fixed Wireless Terminal) does not get charged properly or functioning of the base station gets affected causing interruption of service to the customers.

(c ) Does not arise in view of (b) above.
