Question : Solar Power Projects

(a) the details of on-going Solar Power Projects in the State of Karnataka;

(b) the present policy of the Government regarding participation of private sector in Solar Power Projects;

(c) the quantum of funds allocated, sanctioned and released to the State of Karnataka for the said purpose during the last three years and the current year, District-wise;

(d) whether the Government has identified a few localities or the solar zones in the State of Karnataka for further innovations and power generation; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The State Government of Karnataka has reported that in order to achieve the target of 6,000 MW by 2021set under its Solar Policy, Solar Power Projects of 5,864 MW capacity have been allotted in a phased manner out of which 4,445 MW capacity has been commissioned excluding 183.32 MW Solar Rooftop Projects.

(b) The private sector participates in Solar Power Projects through competitive bidding, third party sale, captive projects, group captive projects and private solar parks.

(c) The Government has sanctioned and released Rs. 270.28 crore to Karnataka so far for developing infrastructure works towards establishment of Solar Parks and the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme. The year-wise details of funds released are as under:-

(d) and (e) Gadag and Bidar Districts in Karnataka have been identified as Zones with solar potential for connectivity under Inter-State Transmission Schemes (ISTS).
