(a) to (d): Department of Information Technology (DIT) thr8ough
national Informatics Centre (NIC) is providing backbone e-
Governance network and technical support to the Central
Government Departments, States, UTs and District Administrations
in the country. NIC sets up Computer Centres at District level
and equips them with basic computing and data communication
facilities and provides the services of one District Information
Officer & one District Information Assistant. District
Collectorates can use these facilities for their computerization
needs. Expenditure towards the above facilities are met by the
NIC from its budget allocation and as such no direct financial
assistance is provided to the State Government in this regard.
(e) and (f): No such assessment has been carried out. However,
NIC has designed and developed number of e-Governance
applications, which can be used by the respective district
administration depending upon their preparedness and
requirements. Some of these applications are:
- Land Records Computerisation
- Registration of Properties
- Below poverty line database
- Registration of birth and death
- collectorate 2000/DC Suite (Citizen services such as Driving License, Marriage Certificate, Domicile, Arm License, Caste Certificate etc.)
- Rural Development Information system for managing rural development and proverty alleviation schemes (Rural Soft)
- Panchayati Raj Institutions Accounting System (PRIASOFT)
- District Treasuries
- Public Distribution System (PDS)
- Integrated Child Development Services
- IT Enabled Employment Exchange Operation.
