Question : Manufacturing of Cancer Drugs

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is true that some of the drugs needed for cancer treatment are not manufactured/produced by the public sector companies in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the reasons therefor;
(c) whether steps are being taken by the Government to produce such medicines in India; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. None of the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the administrative control of Department of Pharmaceuticals is manufacturing/producing drugs needed for cancer treatment.
(c): No, Madam.
(d): Does not arise.
